Choosing a Personal Trainer Certification

Posted on: November 28th, 2012 by Admin

It’s an investment in your future…choosing the right school makes all the difference.

“There are several pieces to a successful personal training career. Education is the most important piece. Without a solid foundation in education and certification, trainers will lack clarity on how to efficiently address the goals and needs of their clients. Proper education and certification through a nationally recognized certifying body such as NASM, equips trainers to provide results for their clientele.” -Valerie Ness, B.S., CES, CPT Personal Trainer of the Year, CEO Catalyst Fitness

There are a huge number of personal trainer certifications available today. They range from simple online courses to hands-on in depth training programs. Value and quality also drastically vary. If you’re serious about helping people and desire a successful career then it is worth it to invest time and money into an accredited hands-on personal training certification program.

Atlanta School of Massage is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Academic Partner. A NASM certification is one of the most recognized certifications throughout the fitness industry. The Atlanta Personal Trainer Program includes 206 hours of supervised training sessions. This important component of personal trainer education ensures that students can safely and effectively train future clients. Real life experience boosts confidence and improves skills needed to be a successful trainer. Proper skill and confidence are of utmost importance as trainers have a responsibility for client safety.

The ASM Personal Trainer Program includes the following areas of study:

  • Introduction to Personal Training
  • Exercise Science
  • Health Sciences
  • Nutrition
  • Business and Marketing
  • Clinic (supervised practice with the public)

If you’re considering a personal trainer career, now is a good time to get started. One-third of the projected fastest growing occupations are related to health care. Having a profound impact on someone’s life is a gift to the client and the trainer. It’s rewarding work!
