The Atlanta Personal Trainer Program, (APTP), of Atlanta School of Massage, is sponsoring Preciosa Bell in the World Beauty Fitness and Fashion competition in Denver, June 20, 2015. Preciosa is training with Yano Anaya, APTP Director, in preparation for competing in the Fitness Model Diva category. This is part 2 of a series following Preciosa’s story and inspirations with a peak into what it takes to prepare for a fitness competition.
I chose the Atlanta Personal Trainer Program because of the value and return on my investment (ROI). I knew I wanted to become a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer. The school’s reputation and longevity was un-comparable to other programs. The APTP provided an enriching education in addition to my NASM and Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) certification. The last 6 months in the APTP has been a great learning experience and what I found to be a very supportive and knowledgeable environment. Prior to starting APTP I had been weight training in the gym consistently 3 to 5 times a week since December 4th, 2013. I came in with some weight training knowledge and it has only been enhanced and built on since then.
Working with Yano is inspirational. I have two voices in the back of my mind when I resistance train, a negative one and a positive one. One voice tells me I can’t, don’t do it, it’s too dangerous, you will fail. The other tells me I can do anything, I’ve got this, just try it, face it head on you can do this, you are a winner. Yano teams up with the positive voice and pushes me beyond my mental limits. I trust that he won’t let me fail. He pushes my training to its physical limits, and then pulls me back just before I go beyond those limits. He is confident, so I am confident, despite how my previous schooling has lead me to be a very cynical and skeptical student. To train how he and I train takes trust and confidence and he provides both. He also doesn’t accept excuses and provides structure and focus. Through him I will reach my greatest athletic potential. I’m fortunate to have him as a coach. Follow Priciosa Bell on Facebook and Instagram
