October 2013 was an exciting month for Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics! On October 21st, AIA held an Open House in celebration of its Ten Year Anniversary. The evening was a success, with industry professionals, local media, former and future students touring the AIA campus, receiving complimentary services, and reacquainting themselves with the school’s eco-conscious initiatives.

Professionals from as far as the West Coast came together to lend to the success of the event. SMB Essentials Founder, Lake Louise, was on-hand giving skin care and product tips using her Lotus Moon Organic Skincare line. Lotus Moon is the exclusive skincare line used at SensAbility – the teaching clinic of Atlanta School of Massage.

Aesthetics Program Director Hope Robison raved of the event: “It was a wonderful night of celebration and camaraderie! Everyday I am honored and grateful to work with an amazing faculty and staff.”

A key part of the evening’s program was the announcement and presentation of the National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers/Distributors, and Associations (NCEA) Gerson Award for Excellence in Esthetic Education. In 1977, Joel Gerson authored the first Esthetics Textbook after recognizing the need for a comprehensive course outline for Estheticians. Published by Milady, the textbook was entitled “Standard Textbook for Professional Estheticians”. The Gerson Award, named after this industry pioneer, honors educators furthering Mr. Gerson’s renowned legacy of classroom excellence. This year’s recipient was AIA Instructor, Jocelyn Ash.  Throughout 2014, NCEA will continue to announce and share pictures of Jocelyn’s award and presentation at all future conferences and events. Go Jocelyn!

A division of Atlanta School of Massage, Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics teaches skin care esthetics from a modern, holistic perspective with a view of preparing graduates for the future. Regarding the program’s future, Leticia Allen, President of Atlanta School of Massage, states: “I’m very proud of our graduates who are sought after by industry employers. The future looks bright as we continue to prepare students for long-term career success in the rapidly growing field of skin care esthetics.”
