All the Places You Can Go… in Your Esthetician Career

One of the most popular books given for graduation is “All the places you’ll go”, by Dr. Seuss.  It serves as inspiration during an exciting yet anxious time.  The excitement resembles anxiety, tingling sensations over your whole body, rapid heartbeat, sweaty palms and so on.  It’s like riding a roller coaster, the buildup of anticipation as you reach the top prior to the impending descent full of screams can be likened to your commencement ceremony.  It’s a celebration of all the hard work invested into your education.  The anxiety of what’s next sometimes feels overwhelming.  Where do you go from here?  In school you build your theoretical base of knowledge and master each skill and technique an esthetician needs to be successful.  Then the next step is moving into the treatment room, which seems to be a natural progression for most.  But what if there was another path, another place to go?

I began my journey of esthetics in February 1995 and oh the wonderful places I’ve been!  Now 18 years later it’s amazing to see the addition of even more fascinating and exciting career opportunities.  The phenomenal graduates of Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics have spread their wings and soared to amazing destinations.  Many are working in the treatment room from Atlanta, to Seattle and even the Bahamas.  Some work in salons and spas, some have started their own successful studios and businesses, some practice in dermatologist offices and others in elite hotels.

So the question is what lies outside the treatment room?  We have graduates who have created their own skincare lines; others work for modeling agencies teaching basic skincare & make up techniques to the models, some have written training manuals and serve as managers for spas in athletic centers.  Others are educators for skincare lines or individual eyelash lines. I invite you to watch the ASM Wellness video. Our graduates share how the foundations gained and  their experience at Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics prepared them for rewarding careers.  As you can see there is a “map” out there just waiting for you to make your mark, and chart your journey driven by passion and excitement for our tremendous industry.
