Today we made our very own Krathong flower arrangements to float down the Ping River this evening in the Loi Krathong Festival. There are many honors and traditional beliefs as to why this is done. In ancient times it is said that this was to honor the Water Spirits. I found this to be a great way to honor not only our earth and the water, but also my Mother, in particular, and my family. I also honored, with gratitude, my girlfriend Linda, and all of my beautiful friends, including new ones made on this amazing journey.
The festival usually takes place according to the Tai Lunar Calendar, on the 12 month, on the evening of the full moon. This usually falls around this time in November. The Krathong festival was amazing. My images and videos could not possibly capture all that I was experiencing. My hope is that they do convey my gratitude for this experience and how meaningful it is to share it with you in this diary.
