Yesterday we visited the Elephants and watched them make their own paintings right in front of us. We then traveled down the river, might I add, on a hand made bamboo raft to visit the Long Neck Karen Paduag Hill Tribe. Here a group of villages still reside in the beautiful lush mountains of Chaing Mai. From my understanding these tribes had to fight for their rights and their land. Over time they have come to some agreements. Now many of the children in this area are supported by the government to go to school in the city. Land is also being protected with government assistance. I am grateful to hear that land like this is so protected and people are able to make compromises to better their communities as a whole.
