Yano Anaya, ASM Wellness Personal Training Program Director
In part one of her interview with Yano Anaya, ASM Personal Training Program Director, Edie Morton uncovered the process that led to his choosing fitness as a career path, what keeps him fit and the impact he says fitness has on people’s lives. Read on, as Yano reveals why he chose to partner wtih ASM Wellness in providing the NASM certification, and how you too can have a successful career as a personal trainer.
Yano Anaya: In my field experience I have witnessed time and time again people representing the fitness industry doing more harm than helping, which originates from lack of education and hands on mentoring. We chose NASM CPT as an introduction to personal training because of its evidenced based scientific approach to personal training. The design of our program goes beyond any on-line certification by integrating A&P, Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, Sales, and Career Development to get you prepared for the work force and explore all of the opportunities available with your credential from ASM and NASM.
YA: My approach to become a successful personal trainer is similar to developing a client. First and foremost is a solid educational foundation, such as anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, nutrition with good sales ethics and a big passionate personality. My client needs to have a solid foundation of neuromuscular reeducation, core strength, strong coordination, efficient balance technique and a very good recovery pulse rate.
Once these basic principles have been mastered the sky is the limit.
